Township of Langley Sidewalks: A Shovel, Blower or Enclosed Utility Vehicle?
Match short entrances, medium sidewalks and long private paths to access constraints, surface conditions and a connected clearing plan.

TOWNSHIP OF LANGLEY / PROPERTY PLANNING

Choosing sidewalk equipment starts with the walking route, not the biggest machine available. A short entrance, a medium frontage and a long path through a managed property can require different approaches within the same winter plan.

The Township uses priorities for municipal park paths and trails. A private property needs its own assigned route plan. Confirm ownership and service responsibility at every connection, particularly where a private walkway meets a public path. This guide concerns Township properties; Langley City has separate municipal guidance.
Measure the actual length and narrowest width. List steps, thresholds, planters, door swings and tight turns. A small section may be most practical for a shovel crew, especially where equipment cannot turn or reach the final edge. Include where that crew will place the snow and how the door remains usable during the work.
Provide gate widths, surface transitions and nearby windows or parked vehicles. Discuss the direction in which cleared material can be discharged and any sensitive surfaces. The provider should review the machine and site together. A compact machine still needs a planned route, suitable access and a way to finish corners and entrance details.

Longer or wider paths may justify a larger blower or enclosed utility vehicle, subject to access and site review. Measure bridges, bollards, gates and overhead restrictions instead of assuming a vehicle fits because most of the route is wide. Identify turning areas and any pavement or structure restrictions with the property team.
Draw a continuous line from the entrance to the arrival point or public frontage. Name the team responsible when that line crosses a parking lane or connects to another service zone. The handoff matters more than having every machine on the property at once. A completed equipment pass should not leave an unfinished bank at the route boundary.
Record shaded corners, drainage crossings and places where water collects. Ask the provider how these observations influence inspection or treatment decisions and what the agreement includes. Surface-care instructions and product labels belong in that discussion. Equipment selection alone does not determine the right material or the need for a later visit.
Send the address, route length, narrowest opening, steps, surface photographs and desired access priorities. Mention parked vehicles and occupied areas that constrain the work. PlowWow handles local operational enquiries linked from SnowRemoval.tv. Ask the team to confirm available service, equipment suitability, dispatch terms and reporting before relying on the arrangement.
